Boys Varsity Cross Country - Holly Festival of Races

The Allen Park Jags harriers traveled to Springfield Oaks County Park in Davisburg on Saturday to compete in the 51st Holly/Duane Raffin Festival of Races. The Varsity squad finished in 7th place amongst the 19-team field, despite having a few casualties along the way. Lucas Eccleton led the way for the Jags, moving as high as 12th place with 120- meters remaining, before succumbing to the effects of heat exhaustion. He was able to bravely stagger and eventually crawl across the finish line. Troy Schnell (18:33.3, 22nd) & Isaiah Jacobs (18:38.4, 27th) led the scoring and were both able to find the podium as medalists. Troy finished with a strong charge, passing 5 other harriers in the final 150-meters, while Isaiah improved his season-best time by 1-minute, en route to his personal best performance. Ryan Nicholson (19:15.5, 43rd) and Terry Emeigh (19:54.5, 62nd) rounded out the scoring.

In J.V. action, the Allen Park squad finished 4th amongst the 17-team field, just 1-point from 3rd place. Collin Miracle (20:18.1, 19th) led the squad for the majority race, until Daniel Reckling (20:15.5, 18th) passed him on the final hill. Nick Wrona (20:20.0, 21st), Dylan Holly (20:20.3, 22nd), & Justin Miner (20:56.2, 33rd) rounded out the scoring. Troy Rogalski (21:10.3, 38th) continued his improvement streak, improving his personal best time by another 40-seconds!

 

NOTE: Vetaly Hayden rolled his ankle around 2.8K and did not finish; 8 Jaguar harriers posted season-best times, with 3 of those being personal bests; 12 of 15 Jags posted personal course records for the Springfield Oaks course; Race temperature 83-degrees (67% humidity)
