GOLDEN TICKET (TRY OUT CARD) - INSTRUCTIONS

Please read carefully as EVERY STUDENT who wishes to tryout or participate in athletics at APHS must be approved ahead of time and have a GOLD CARD to give their coach as their "ticket" to allow them to tryout. The athletic office is CLOSED for the summer, we will be available for GOLD CARDS on August 5th, 6th and 7th between 8:00am-3:00pm. The athletic office will open again full-time on August 12th at 8:00am.
Try Outs for athletic programs are open to all students providing they meet the standards of academic eligibility, school citizenship and basic physical/health qualifications. Participation in the program is a privilege granted to students who meet and maintain these standards.

Before any student can participate in try-outs, the first three items listed below must be completed to receive a Gold Card (try out card)

1. All Students MUST turn in a copy of their most recent MHSAA athletic physical to the athletic office prior to the first day of tryouts. Physical exams completed by a physician on or after April 15, 2019 are valid for the 2019-2020 school year.  Students with expired physicals will not be permitted to participate in try-outs, practices or games until a current physical is turned in. The parents/guardians are responsible for filling out this form completely confirming that any and all medical information concerning their child's health, medical concerns, injuries, medications and allergies are reported to the Athletic department. Physicals can be turned in during the days and times listed above. Blank forms are available in the office or click here for a copy.

2. The student must be academically eligible per the MHSAA. They must have passed a minimum of 4 classes the last semester. If not, they must retake and pass enough classes to reach this limit.

3. The student must be registered online. Directions for the online registration are listed below.

You can register for ALL the sports they plan to participate in for the whole school year now.

HINT: During the process make sure to select a gender on the sport selection page and on the medical page, if no allergies, you must put something in the box like NONE in order for the registration to be complete. There are three tabs within in the system (parent/guardian profile, student profiles and forms). All three sections must be completed in their entirety. 4. This step is completed AFTER try-outs and the student has been added to the team roster. Only steps 1-3 are necessary to receive a GOLD CARD.  The pay to play fee should not be paid until after the student makes the team.
All pay to participate fees (cash only) will be collected in the main office during the first week of the sports season (after try-outs) or paid online at www.mypaymentsplus.com It must be paid before the first game.
The established High School Athletic Participation Fee rate for the 2019-2020 school year is $110 per athlete for each athletic program ($275 max per individual student-athlete) OR district wide max is $330 per family)
**Students who would like to participate in athletics but are unable financially have the option of applying for financial aid. The guideline used for granting financial aid is the Free and Reduced Lunch Program. Students are eligible for financial assistance only if their family qualifies for free and reduced lunch benefits and only if the information from the program is allowed to be used by the Athletic Department. Students who are on the Reduced Lunch Program will receive a one-half reduction in their Athletic Fee. Students who are on the Free Lunch program will have their fee waived. Those who wish to apply should complete this form for each sport in which they would like to participate. If this applies to your student, the financial aid application MUST be turned in to the athletic office. This form can be found by clicking here.
